Ribbon in Outlook 2010

I am using Office 2010 32bit and windows 7 64bit. When I open outlook there is no ribbon displayed. When I click home, send/receive etc the ribbon appears but does not stay open and closes as soon as something else is clicked. This behavior is not present in the other office applications. Any ideas on how to correct this would be much appreciated. Thanks
