No Internet!

I lost cobnnectivity on the 29 August and have been unable to get back online.

AOL have identified a problem at the server but did not refer this to the repair team until about 10 days later.

The Netgear N1000 modem/router apperas to be ok (I think) and has been reset but still no joy. I have also tried another Netgear (N834) modem and this also sjows the same problem with red light on the internet indicator.

There are times, however, like this morning when the internet light does not appear red or green, just blank.

What are the likely causes?

ps - my payments are up-to-date just for the record.
