Everything was fine till about a month ago, no idea if its because I broke old motherboard and got new one(as the cpu spikes seemed to occur at the same time as goe new motherboard despite it being a identical board)
Could it be a bios issue as its a older bios on the new board?
For example in June I was getting 26 degrees when it was at its coolest, when we had the heatwave cpu went up to about 33-36 idle even with windows closed and now its cooled a little I get about 38 degrees.
However what I have noticed is if I sit on desktop not even a browser open with task manager and HWmonitor open I can notice the spikes in both temp and cpu usage i.e they occur at same time.
I have a watercooled 2700k, 16 gig Corsair Vengeance ram, a In Win Gt case, 2 optical drives, a ssd, a 2.5 hard drive and 1x 3.5 hard drive along with a 780ti
I did just buy a brand new 780ti as used to have a reference one and assumed that was reason for temps but my new one has a lower graphics card temp but cpu temps are same.
But of interest I installed Windows 8 onto a 2nd hard drive and it has the same temp problems with cpu spikes i.e on idle it can be 30 degrees, then cpu usage says 10% and cpu goes up to 35-40
Earlier today when I booted windows I noticed for first 10 minutes cpu usage was 25%
I also tried disabled my AV(Eset) and that did no difference.
The other thing it can be is the temps in the flat, since its much cooler in the morning but even then goes up to about 32 idle.
I currently left pc off for about 5 hours and cleaned dust out of the fans, left windows open in living room and kitchen and still it went to about 34 degrees idle and when cpu spiked it went up above 40.
For a watercooled pc on idle seems a little high considering my pentium haswell runs about 24 degrees in same circumstances on air cooler. and maxes out at 28
