Speech recognition for Word on HP G56

I'm trying to familiarise with speech typing on my laptop for Word documents but I have no idea how it works.

I open a document and choose Speech in Tools and a small dialogue box appears with a sound bar/microphone listening for sounds.

When I say a word, text appears in the box asking "what as that"?

Is there a tutorial anywhere I can refer to as I can find info on the laptop.
