These days is it better to have a external optical drive and use slot for 2nd hdd/ssd

I like optical drives because I make monthly Windows discs, and if I get bored I like to use dvds or blu rays as I dislike rips(its like comparing MP3 to CD its good enough but you can notice a difference against the higher bitrate and such)



But I also like having 2 hard drives on each desktop and laptop and laptops with 2nd hard drives are so expensive(I own a gaming laptop but its nice to have the option for an older laptop I can make more portable for emulators and gaming on move)



Having a portable drive means I can use it if I have to spend a night or two away somewhere and not having a massive laptop in bag which is heavy



So your thoughts?
