OK so i'm toying with the idea of getting together a linux (most likely ubuntu) server to run as a plex server, as well as file server (nas functions etc), torrent server etc etc.
would run headless and be as small and quite as possible.
small OS HDD and a couple of big data HDDs.
so first things first.. hardware wise is probably doesn't need to be all that great, but for plex it needs to be able to handle transcoding if required.
probably i3 or similar would be sufficient?
also, i assume there isn't much difference between ubuntu desktop and ubuntu server? (server has no gui obviously).
so i'm looking for thoughts etc.
